Is the August long weekend the end of music festival season? Say it ain’t so! However, in order to keep you in the spirit of summer festivals, we have a whole batch of street style snaps fresh from Osheaga 2013. The three-day indie festival is reaching peak popularity, with bands like Mumford & Sons, Vampire Weekend and Kendrick Lamar drawing fans from across the country to Montreal. And, thanks to the style-spotting eye of photographer Phil Birnbaum, it seems like the festival fashion at Osheaga is just as strong as the musical line-up. This may have something to do with the Osheaga’s downtown location, allowing attendees to stay in hotels rather than camping onsite. (Our pick? Hotel Chez Swann, which was just a hop, skip and a jump—over the St. Lawrence—from Parc Jean-Drapeau.)
If you had any doubts about this season’s crop top trend being a thing, our Osheaga street style photos will convince you otherwise. From lacy bustiers to midriff-baring tanks, the crop top was certainly a popular style at Osheaga. Neon was also a hit, with both boys and girls spotting bright tie-dyed neon hats, tank tops and shorts. But the biggest trend at Oshega has to be the baseball cap. We spotted cherry tomato-printed hats, cool-girl florals and, best of all, a hat embroidered with everyone’s favourite phrase, YOLO.
