H&M’s designer collaboration collections are famous for creating pandemonium—both industry-wide and on the sales floor. Launch day has become synonymous with block-scaling lines, fight-to-the-death shopping tactics. And so when the announcement came of the brand’s collaboration with conceptual industry favourite Maison Martin Margiela, we wondered how it would pan out as far as the general public was concerned. Margiela is not as household a name as say, Versace or Jimmy Choo.

For the first time in Toronto, men can shop at J.Crew. After the exclusion of the men’s line (much to shoppers dismay) at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the newest J.Crew outpost in the Toronto Eaton Centre features all that the company has to offer.
The iconic American brand has settled in to a 9,000 square foot space in the on the third floor (formerly Bebe), and has filled the space with blonde hardwood and knick-knacks. Mannequins dressed in multi-layered outfits (think preppy collars poking out from underneath brightly-hued cashmere sweaters, crossbody bags and jeweled necklaces slung with ease) showcase what J.Crew does best.

Ann Taylor has touched down on Canadian soil. As a part of the brand’s global expansion, the first Canadian store was unveiled atToronto Eaton Centre. Conveniently nestled between the must-shop Apple Store and Lululemon, the bright white space was unveiled on Thursday. And there’s only one way to celebrate a store and that’s a party.
The spacious store was filled with bloggers like Style Panel’s Gracie Carroll and The Backseat Stylers’ Sharon Ng Hayes. Zoomer Magazine’s editor Suzanne Boyd and menswear designer Farley Chatto also showed up with others to scope the selection. Champagne and wine was sipped and tiny snacks consumed, the makings of any good party.

The Weekend To-Do: We’re celebrating Thanksgiving by shopping, fashion show-going and drinking Alexander Keith’s beer
Traditionally this weekend has always been about the turkey dinner and the turkey drop (may you not be on the receiving end). Beware the tryptophan-induced food coma because this long weekend there are plenty of fashionable, non-turkey related things to get up to: shopping sprees at the mall, runway shows in the prairies and the birthday of a beer baron. The Weekend To-Do: Oysterfest in Montreal, where to shop in Toronto and spend Labour Day laughing with For A Good Time, Call
As Labour Day is a celebration in honour of those who fought to work less than 12 hours a day, it’s only fitting to indulge in a little R&R this weekend. Whether it’s restorative or preventative rest you’re after—what with a new school year, TIFF and Fashion’s Night Out on the horizon—there’s plenty to choose from, should you decide to leave your Adirondack chair.
Exciting! Juicy Couture’s 5th Canadian store at Toronto’s Eaton Centre is the 1st to carry the brand’s luxe line, Bird
Juicy Couture opened its fifth Canadian retail location at the Toronto Eaton Centre on June 1. The store, splashed with Juicy’s trademark pink and brown colour combo, stocks their signature enamel accessories and cutesy charms as well as those velour tracksuits that first rocketed the brand to fame. If the idea of having “Juicy” sprawled across your bum doesn’t really appeal to you, you’ll be glad to hear that the Eaton Centre location offers Juicy’s luxe line, Bird by Juicy Couture. Bird features more sophisticated and fashion-forward pieces than the standard terry and tongue-in-cheek velour purses that have become synonymous with the brand. Even better, Bird stocks neutrals that aren’t usually seen in Juicy’s standard, tropical-coloured offerings. Juicy Couture has three additional Ontario locations—Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Sherway Gardens and an outlet store at Vaughan Mills—and a location at Vancouver’s Pacific Centre.
To the brave ones who pulled an all-nighter on Friday in the name of Versace for H&M, we salute you! Only you, the TV crews, and the bewildered onlookers were privy to the madness that was the 7:45 a.m. collection launch on Saturday morning. Well, you, and our boy Lewis Mirrett that is, who swung by Toronto’s Eaton Centre to catch the early morning rush for those who were busy catching their zzzs.
Jay Manuel, the silver-haired and Toronto-raised fashion personality best known by his roles on America’s and Canada’s Next Top Model was in his hometown yesterday to launch his much-anticipated line, Attitude Jay Manuel, at Sears Eaton Centre. The die hard–fan-filled runway style presentation attracted gawkers and passers-by alike, who—if they didn’t know before—definitely were clued into Manuel’s celebrity status by the 40-foot poster that hung in the entrance to the mall.
