Fashion nerds: Your favourite Star Wars characters sport the latest men’s fashions

Comments

Do you ever feel like you have to choose between your love of fashion and your love of epic space operas? We agree it should never come to that, but now you don’t have to. Hong Kong illustrator John Woo has spiffed up your favourite Star Wars characters in more earthly gear: Darth Vader sports Band of Outsiders, Jango Fett looks cool in Comme des Garçons and Stormtroopers kick it Thom Browne, A.P.C. and Viktor & Rolf. Signed prints of these watercolour paintings are available at Woo’s Etsy shop for US$50, and he’s also done special commissions for High Snobriety and Selecticism. Our only complaint: As if Jar Jar Binks is cool enough to pull off Margiela.

Danielle Meder's paper doll illustration of Pink Tartan's Spring 2010 collection.

During (and after) October’s Spring 2010 LG Fashion Week, readers of fashion illustrator Danielle Meder’s blog, Final Fashion, were treated to paper doll renderings of Pink Tartan, Philip Sparks, Vawk and 12 other Canadian collections. In each set selection of looks sat tabbed and ready to be cut out and put onto paper dolls styled in the show’s hair and makeup–and all the appropriate underpinnings. Now Meder, a Ryerson fashion grad whose illustrations have appeared in NOW Magazine, the Globe & Mail and the National Post, has compiled her series into a book (US$43, blurb.com). (If you want to cut out the clothes and play dress up, Meder will send you a PDF for $18.) We had a quick email chat with Meder to find out what inspired the paper dolls, her favourite illustrators and why she focuses on the local. (Read the interview and see a sampling of the fashion dolls, after the jump) Read more »

Looking for a souvenir from Toronto Fashion Week (besides the 18 Schick Quattros)? Fashion illustrator and blogger-about-town Danielle Meder has illustrated postcards of some of the runway looks. (Our faves: Comrags and Joeffer) [Final Fashion]

We need a palate cleanse after all that high fashion.  Figure skating costumes will do nicely. [LA Times]

Jil Sander is now a consultant for Uniqlo, which, for the thousandth time, we are praying will come to Canada. Seriously, how can we get this done? [Yahoo]
