I pretty much wear a bronzer year-round, but the return of warmer weather is always an ideal time to reassess what you’ve been putting on your face the last eight months. As such, the first thing on my to-try list is RMS Beauty’s Buriti Bronzer. This sheer, creamy bronzer is nothing like the powder palettes we’re used to. It delivers a true-to-tanned-skin bronze tint (no orange shimmer here!) and contains Buriti oil, fresh from Brazil and sure to be the next “must-have” miracle oil, due to its super-high levels of Vitamin A and Beta-carotene. (Oh and fun fact: When I first met RMS Beauty founder Rose-Marie Swift she was dog sitting for Miranda Kerr, so I alternated between sampling beauty products and petting a tiny Yorkie. What could be better?)

To coincide with FASHION’s 35th anniversary we’re taking a look back at some Canadian beauty trailblazers that have made waves throughout the country and abroad over the past 35 years. Talent-wise, from Kristjan Hayden to Grace Lee to Greg Wencel (and more!), Canadian-born hairstylists and makeup artists have left their mark on top brands and stars—including Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gisele and Kristen Stewart. And the ever-growing green beauty industry is yet another area that Canadians excel at: brands like RMS Beauty, Consonant and Bite Beauty & Sula are getting noticed for their eco-friendly and all-natural approach.
