The fan-girl Q&A: Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir

If you were anywhere near a television during the Vancouver Olympics, you’ll be familiar with the names Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. You’ll remember their killer moves, their gold medal for ice dancing, and most importantly, their undeniable chemistry. While the two haven’t dated since they were teens, there must’ve been millions of viewers across the country plotting their futures together. So it seems fitting that the two teamed up for the launch of The Body Shop’s new Body Butter Duos ($16 each, at The Body Shop locations across Canada), given that they’re constantly connected in our minds (and dreams). The newly available body butter duo offers the same old goodness but split into two, offering both normal- and dry-skin coverage. (They’re majorly delicious. We love macadamia.)

While at the launch last month, we had the chance to go über-fan on the dancing duo and quiz them on things that may or may not have had anything to do with how soft their skin is.

Read our interview after the jump:

What have you guys been up to since last year?
Scott: “We had a whole bunch of perks after the Olympic games like having dinner with the Queen of England and being hosted by the Prince of Monaco. We got to drop pucks at hockey games. We got to go on quite a tour. After doing a couple of skating shows over [last] summer, we got back and made some programs and some progress. Tessa had to have surgery again—that was a long process. We were able to get back for the world championships this year and sneak out a silver medal.”

What do you guys like about working together? Could you ever do it without each other?
Tessa: “No, our life [together] is what we’ve grown up knowing. It’s who we are at this point. From such a young age working together, we’ve learned so much about one another both on and off the ice. Our relationship has really evolved and changed throughout the years and it’s been quite the roller coaster. It’s fun that we’re best friends and that we get to share all these amazing experiences together.”

What would you say are your beauty essentials?
Tessa: “A lot of the figure skating costumes are kind of revealing, so I think it’s nice to have glowing, soft, smooth skin. That’s why this body butter was a great match for us. On the ice, you can see soft, smooth skin whether you’re in the nosebleeds or [watching] high-definition television.”

And for you, Scott, smooth skin?
Scott: [Laughs] “Well, I usually wear long-sleeved shirts.”

What are your plans for the next Olympics?
Scott: “I would love to be there. I don’t know if we will still be skating—it’s kind of one of those things that we take one year at a time. I love the Olympic games and I’d love to be there skating, but who knows what’s going to happen.”
