If you’re in Toronto and heading to World MasterCard Fashion week, beware. We may just be waiting to quiz you. From an inspiration-seeking vintage boutique owner to Maybelline Canada’s lead makeup artist, we ambushed stylish women outside the shows yesterday and asked them to share their outfits, fall fashion faves and more. Kathleen Elie Fashion Week

What are you wearing and why?
“Urban Outfitter vest, moto jacket, Walter dress, Steve Madden pumps and BCBG clutch, Noir ring. I wanted to be pretty and edgy at the same time.”

Favourite thing you are wearing?
“The fur, it’s mostly convenience cause it’s cold, but also an easy piece to add instant chic to any outfit.”

What are you doing at the tents?
“Reporting for Souche Magazine and Fashion With A Conscience .”

What do you like about Toronto fashion week?
“I love the talent that we get to see. So many designers’ travel here to show and Toronto gets the bulk of the talent that’s in Canada.”

What’s your favourite fall trend?
“I love capes. I always love capes. But this season I love the statement sweater, from printed, in mixed media, leather or quilting and paired with skinny jeans.”

“Toque is Forever21, New Look jacket, JNBY silk shirt, random leggings and Nike sneakers. Honestly, this is what I’ve been wearing all day. I just threw it together.”

Favourite thing you are wearing?
“Sneakers”

Who are you coming to see/what are you doing at the tents?
I am working with JNBY.”

What do you like about Toronto fashion week?
I love the designers, the atmosphere, I just love how it’s a great platform for everyone to get together and love fashion.”

What’s your favourite fall trend?
“I love the sneakers and oversized coats.”

What are you wearing and why?
“Vest is Laura Siegel, Wilfred Kimono, JNBY tee, leather tights Wilfred, Balenciaga boots, Balenciaga bag. I like layers cause backstage it gets really hot and cold, so I like having things I can take off and put back on.”

Favourite thing you are wearing?
I like to spend a lot of money on shoes and bags.”

What do you like about Toronto fashion week?
The adrenaline rush, working with all the designers—it’s kind of like the best job. You’re backstage you are working with designers, you get to be creative, you have the license to create all these different looks. If you’re a makeup artist it’s the best job.”

What’s your favourite fall trend?
“An ox blood red lip, it’s the best statement lip.”

What are you wearing and why?
“’70s silver fox collar, ‘60s blazer, ‘60s hand beaded blouse, Zara necklace, Noir spike bracelet, YSL cocktail ring, my mother’s first gold ring she got for her 16th birthday, Zara pants, vintage pony hair purse from Emporium by I Miss You and shoes are Boutiqe9. I’m trying to go for a little bit of an unconventional fall wardrobe. Trying to incorporate some florals and really pulling my pastels into the colder weather.”

Favourite thing you are wearing?
“I’m loving florals.”

What are you doing at the tents?
“I guess because I work such long hours that I don’t often get to really see a lot of the people in my field. It gives me a moment to connect with the people in my group. I come because I love to see what the city has to offer and what the designers are doing. I take that inspiration back to my shop and it inspires me in the way that I style vintage in my boutique.”

What do you like about Toronto fashion week?
“I love that there is such an intimacy in the Toronto community. I really get to know so many designers. So I get to support not just the grander creative fashion world in the city but also individuals. You know that when you buy one of their pieces or go to the show that it’s going to someone who you genuinely like and respect.”

What are you wearing and why?
“Vintage scarf, H&M sweater, skirt was my moms, Joe fresh booties, H&M trench, Alexander Wang purse. I was trying to mix textures and plaids and really channel cozy fall.”

Who are you coming to see/what are you doing at the tents?
“Here to see Laura Siegel show because we carry her collection at Holt Renfrew’s H Project. So we’re here to show our support and take a peek at spring line.”

What do you like about Toronto fashion week?
I love that it’s local and that it supports Canadian. It’s really very innovative and even with someone like Laura Siegel you see the international influence of what Canadians are doing.”

What’s your favourite fall trend?
The plaids! Definitely the plaids, hence my scarf.”
