Minnie Mouse is having a moment lately (could she be fashion’s latest It girl?) and her influence has made its way to Toronto’s World MasterCard Fashion Week, hosted by Samantha and Cailli Beckerman. This year, Disney partnered with Mercedes-Benz Start Up to encourage six designers to use Minnie as their muse and create their interpretation of her iconic style. Some girls just have all the luck.

Mercedes-Benz Start Up winner Sid Neigum claimed the Minnie Mouse prize of $2,500 to put towards his own collection with his fabulous black ruffled Minnie Mouse inspired dress, complete with a bow, of course.

Other finalists included Valerie Tolila with her 1920s Minnie look that featured an A-line skirt studded with Swarovski crystals. Laura Siegel took a unique approach by trading in the polka dots for a star prints, while Diego Fuchs opted for a blend of red, black and white polka dot prints.

Often referred to as the First Lady of Disney, Minnie Mouse’s signature look is recognizable all around the world. It was only a matter of time until she became a major influence in fashion.
